Chinese clock
« on: January 15, 2012, 09:47:12 am »
A couple of years ago, I came across an old Chinese clock on the dutch ebay (marktplaats.nl). I was immediately interested (it had just been on marktplaats several minutes), called the seller and eventually bought it.

The clock is heavy, and in my opinion very nicely painted. Unfortunately, the clockwork itself doesn't work.

Can anyone tell me more about this piece of craftmanship?

These clocks were made in the 50`s !!  Some were made as display pieces for jewelry stores !! Many are cloisonne and brass, others are a more simple enamel and most all will have a painted, decorated pendulum !! There were quite a few that I found !!  Just look up "cloisonne clocks from peoples republic of China" or "mystery clocks" !! And you can find them !!
