Candy Dish
« on: January 16, 2012, 12:26:50 pm »
I have this really cool candy dish. Its measures around 11.5" tall and 5.5" wide. I have the usual basic questions. Who made it? How old is it? What do you think I could get for it? Thanks Kevin

no pattern just the shape of it. I don't know if it will help but one thing that stands out to me is how thin the glass is.

Some were very thin walled !! Honestly, I do not think this is a candy dish !!  How large is the opening at top ?? Can you get your hand in it comfortably ??  All the way in ??

Check out Imperial Glass sure looks like one of there stems, but have not seen any imperial of this color.  Almost look like a Kemple Glass Blue.  Pattern may be refer to a quilt.

Agree mart opening is to small for candy dish, Shape looks like an Ivy Ball vase but I have not seen any with a lid. maybe a lidded sugar base was broken from the set and added to the Ivy Ball vase.  ???

I'll have to pay closer attention to the size of the opening next time I go to my garage. I think I would be able to get candy out with my fingers until it got low. I have seen lots of candy dishes my hands wouldn't fit it and I always just picked it up and dumped some out into my hand.

Could it be for a vanity to hold cotton balls or something else a woman might need? I think chick hands would probably fit.

I think sometimes Glass items is just made for decorative purposes, and any funtionablity is secondary.

The ones I remember were indeed used for cotton balls, or potpourri or just to look pretty in the bathroom !!  Might have been Imperial but Libbey is what comes to mind !!
