Silver item help!

hi,
this is my first post
i don't relly know alot about silver nor antiques but i've tried my hand at a bit of research to find out what this is and the date and origin of where and when it was made but all i found out was it was made in sheffield england, i have posted some picture and are hoping you could help me with it and even better possibly give me a value for it thanks.

What is its diameter? -- because it looks like a napkin ring.

Could you take a closer shot of the marks? Little hard to make out the symbols. Not sure if the EP is a makers mark or Electro Plated meaning silver plate. I did find a couple E P marks, but they don't quite match..........18th and 19th century.  One of them, Edward Penman, there is no example available. You can click on the highlighted name to see examples.

If yours is electro plated they wouldn't show up here, so being able to distinguish the other marks would be helpful in narrowing down the maker/location/date.

yeah i think it is a napkin ring actully, and and yeah i have posted a close up of the marks hopefully it will help as i have no idea how old it is or were it was made but i do think sheffield....do you know what price it could fecth if it is silver and you identify the maker and date?

If it is silver from the CCAB the age would be from 1974 to present date  The napkin ring marks are ES, for English silver, Crown for the town of Sheffield, Lion for sterling and the A would be for the date which I did not look up or it could be a makers mark but I think its the date letter !!

ES is the maker, but I can't find out who it is.  The date letter is for 1943, Sheffield.  It is a very plain napkin ring, unless you can find out that it was for an important event it would be worth melt value.  At the moment unless something has significant decorative or historical value, melt is the best you can hope for.

I might be wrong but I think the ES stands for Eoff & Sheffield New York,NY.

ok that might be it but I swear it was eoff and sheffield and yes there is an & in there but it is the closest I could find.

ES in two conjoined circles Edward Sweet Extere. 1850 hallmark....ES Edward Smith Birmingham 1843 its the first one

Looking at the monogram, could that be CGAB rather than CCAB ?

Would the Coast Guard have had 'formal' dining quarters, as there is a set of initial for Coast Guard Air Base. (just not sure when that term would have been applied)

You can't always find the maker - unfortunately.  Believe Mart is right on with the Sheffield/England information and the date mark A is for 1943.

I also thought it was CGAB because they are definitely different letters.

In looking more that date 1943 is right so wouldn`t be CCAB since it wasn`t chartered till 1974 !!  I looked and couldn`t find a thing relevant for that date in 1943 or 44 which is the date on the napkin ring !!
