nichols & stone boston rocker?
« on: March 22, 2012, 05:21:25 pm »
Here is another one for you guys. On the bottom of the chair it states that its a nichols and stone chair and the finish is "Old pine" also it says its manufactured out of garner mass. I did a bit of research on it to find out that the factory was moved to mass some time after it changed hands? The thing I was curious about was that online I was only ever able to find the same chair in black... also the handles of the black chair didn't have the stenciling that is oictured below. Anyone know anything else to add? Or possibly why I'm unable to find this same finish when trying to put a value to it?

Boston rockers usually have curved seats like this:

But Nichols and Stone seems to use the trade name for this rocker model, which they are still producing today:

I would contact them and they should be able to precisely date your rocker.

http://www.google.com/search?q=nichols+and+stone+pine+finish+boston+rocker&hl=en&biw=1600&bih=603&tbm=isch&prmd=imvns&ei=M7ZrT5WREeXj0QHG76DvBg&start=0&sa=N

Some of these listings are repeat pics but there are several pages of your finish you can look at,, including one childs rocker !! There were many of these made back then late 60`s through early 80`s !!
