Does anyone recognize this box?
« on: March 31, 2012, 06:59:27 am »
I have seen some marquetry boxes on the web but not this one. I wondered if any one could tell me something about this box?

Im quite sure it's marquetry work inlaid with Moth of Pearl and Ivory.

Sorry, I have no clue.  Looks modern.  Maybe someone else can help you figure it out.

Looks like a modern box and probably mass produced !!  It shows no age I could see, the wood where the numbers are has no patina to speak of !!  Doubt if its ivory since that is illegal !!  Faux of some sort probably !!

I reckon its some kind of bone because I done the hot pin test and it spat back and was smelling of burnt hair.
