Have you ever seen this before?
« on: April 11, 2012, 05:20:52 pm »
My wife and I bought this at a US Marshalls auction 2 weeks ago in Columbus, Ohio. It came out of a 7 million, 30,000 sq ft home in Hilliard, Ohio. The owner was involved in a real estate ponzi scheme. Alot of people were interested in this item but fortunately for us we were the winning bidders. Everyone whom bid on this said it was very unique but didnt know who or what it was. There is no mark on the bottom. Thanks for any info.

Seriously,, first thing that comes to mind is Mckinsey Childs ( not sure about that spelling ) But I do not remember seeing anything like that !! What did the auctioneer say about it ??  Any info at all ??

Then that creates a problem !! Even a one of a kind is worth nothing if you don`t know who did it !! It could just as well be someones ceramic shop hobby piece as a known ceramic producer !!  You would have nothing to judge it against, no sales record to set a value by !!  Did they say,, or do you know what it is for ?? Vase, candleholder, or just an art piece ??

Mart.....it was used as an art piece.......some of the other people bidding on this piece are known antique buyers in the area.....bidding was getting alittle heated.....once we won they snubbed their noses at us ans walked on.....it could be worth $5 for all I know.....but I did think it was unique.....thats what intrigued me about it.......

I can honestly say I haven't seen a pottery piece like this before.  But, I do see how a store would pay something for it...being as it is so unique....in a store it will sell.

Reminds me of the "Fat Ladies" art that this one paints/sells...and it sells well!  Whimsical!

I would be checking every inch of her for some sort of mark. Something about her is ringing a bell, but right now it's very faint.  :P

Have you thought of contacting the auction house? Did you get any paperwork when you won the auction?
