Butter Crock from a Yard Sale
« on: April 17, 2012, 06:26:48 pm »
Well it is yard sale time here in NJ and this was my first buy of the season. The person I bought it from was a flea market dealer selling from her garage who said she had several of these from her parents farm and this was the one she held on to. I paid 5 bucks for it. I can find little information about Schorn and Brower except that they were a merchant at the address on the crock. Do you think it was a good buy for today's sluggish market? I never bought one before in all my years, believe it or not. It measures 71/2 x 5 1/2 inches. It held 5 pounds and there is a 5 cent deposit if I return it.

Of course that was a good deal! I haven't checked, but I bet it would be worth close to $50 on eBay.
(Did I ever tell you about the little butter crock I sold on eBay years ago that ended up at over 10 grand? Now if you could find a garage sale with a few of those.  ;))

I ran a Google search on Schorn & Brower. Looks like early 1900's-1920's.
