antique oil lamps
« on: July 30, 2012, 08:43:48 pm »
Can anybody tell me if these things are worth anything?  The main one I'm interested in is the cobalt blue one, how do I tell if it's an expensive one?  The clear ones are lamplight farms, I think they are like $30 lamps.  What do I look for on the blue one to determine if it is worth something?

It's hard for me to tell from the photos, but if the metal burner collar is threaded onto the glass font (like a jar lid), the lamp is a newer version.

Can't tell much here either from the pics , but you might want to inspect the metal burner parts for patent dates & stampings & such , sswainable .

The only one of those lamps that looks like it has any age at all is the one in the bottom picture.

Also, the globe on it looks old due to it “beaded” top …. and it’s burner looks a “tad” older to me.

Me thinks all the others are quite new and of little collectible value ....... but are really great for when there's a power outage.

They all look 20th century. Presuming, however, that they are all old, then the blue one stand out because of its color, which I assume is the trait that attracted you in the first place. Again presuming age on all of them, the blue would be worth a tad more.

Top three are mid century and could be bought at any hardware store !! The blue one also came in clear, amber and green !! Last one, like Cogar said looks a bit older and may be 30`s or so !!

Pay $25-$35 for the blue one if you love it.

All of these came in the house I just bought, so I'm actually selling them, just wanted to know what to ask for them.  They all have screw off tops except one, and a collector friend of mine looked at it and said it's a $100 lamp, I'm just going to keep that one.  The other ones are all $25-$30 lamps that are not very old, just look old.  Thanks for all the input!

it's actually not even pictured.  It has a few red lines that wrap around the glass, and the tip of the globe is red.
