what is this??
« on: August 17, 2012, 06:59:08 pm »
My brother found this on a beach many many years ago. I had kept if for some strange reason, but was wondering what it was. Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

It feels and weighs a bit like stone but it is extremely thin. Maybe some kind of old pottery, not sure. I think it was found on a west coast Canada beach but not really sure.

It looks like metal !! Can you take a pic of the bottom and post it here !!  Cant enlarge on that other site !!  Could be from a shipwreck !!

It looks like it's shiny in the pictures (first set of pictures) which makes me think it's pewter or some type of pot metal or spelter from the hole in it the way it's broken off. It also looks very old perhaps from an old shipwreck.

In fact, it is the "Crown" quadruple silverplated table lighter by Ronson 1936

Excellent work !! I thought it was bigger than that from the pic !!  Just goes to show that we need sizes on these things !!
