Large chest of drawers. 1st post!

Greetings! This is a family piece given to me by my mother.  I'm not sure of its age or value. It is 54" wide and 56" tall. Any help would be much appreciated.

It would help if we knew where you were roughly,..the new side of the pond or the old side,here in UK this is known as a 2 over 3,..with the drawers being of yellow pine...is the rest a veneer of Mahogany,or solid,the dovetails look to be hand cut..indicating a good bit of age,

Could we see the top as well please ?? Dovetails look approx first half of 19th century at least !!  And yes location helps greatly !!

New side of the pond. The top is solid with a bullnose and there is wide drawer just under it. Here are some more pics of top and back. Sorry for their poor quality.

I'll go out on a limb and say 1840s, based on some other dressers I've seen.

I,ve got a feeling it might be a bit later,its got pine back boards,pine drawers,with a mahogany front/top,..which might be a veneer, but even if it is,nt ...i,m thinking late Victorian..1890,s 1900,

Empire revival,, a bit early in that era around 1840 or 1850 !! Somwhere around that time !! Could be earlier or a little later,, hard to tell !!    Have to give or take a few years on almost everything since no way to say accurately !!  Nice chest though !!

I agree, ghopper1024, ….. look at 2nd picture in Post #4 ….. at the top edge of those backer boards.

They have been hand chamfered ….. and I would expect to see square nails used to attach them.

And it looks like the sides of the chest are probably 1-board construction.

I don,t think their porcelain..as you can see that the hole for the key  has been hand cut,but my gut feeling is that they,have been added later the lock is standard fare for this type of chest of drawers...i,ll post a pic of one shortly that came off of and old pine kist....
