I think Rauville is right, the unit would be vented through the wall and that's why the hole is there. Makes sense to me from where it is located...

That's just as bad as a "Johnny on the Spot"! My husband and I have a ton of jokes for this because he's does construction. We joke about the winter time, or who goes first is the luckiest!

i have restored a few of those !!  most are very nice !! did one out of rosewood with caned seat !! till you lifted the seat looked like a very nice chair. porcelain toilet part just dropped down in the hole, so it was almost unseen !!

no record of the company but that is not unusual for small companies that were absorbed into larger ones !!  you might try the chamber of commerce or the historical society in that town to see if they have info !!  as for date,, somewhere between 40`s and 60`s i think !!  cant get closer than that !!
