There,s nothing like a bit of nostalga..when it comes to the Progressive Rock era...the very first Rock concert i went to was in Feb 1969...at the Usher Hall in Edinburgh..think smaller version of the Royal Albert Hall in London.....the lead band were Led Zeppelin...and the support act were Barclay James Harvest....price to get in..£2.....then King Crimson in july 69....Roger Chapman& Family 1972.in my home town of Dundee...an album that i listen to a lot is Fill your Head with Rock....its a double album...of various artists..see link its an awsome album.

"Blind Faith" and "Low Spark of High Heel Boys' My husband is 6 yrs older than I am. There was a time we went to concerts regularlly. One of my favorites was "Moody Blues with the Philadelphia Orchestra". Amazing show. We still go, but not as often. We just saw Roger Waters about a month ago.

What i like about the album cover..is the obverse side...whereby the 3 Starfighters are lying on the floor in bits....The West Germans hated this plane...when the Americans had it it was ok...then they sold it to the Canadians...still ok...then the Germans bought it....and 130+ fell out of the sky.....it makes you wonder????

I used to like Don Van Vliet, a real Renaissance man I thought. (Of course, I even liked The Fugs back in the 60's. :-X)

It's the Canadian jinx.  Our Sea King helicopters are renowned for dropping out of the sky all the time  :D

Thats different, there meant to go up and down...in a vertical manner....the Starfighter...fell out of the sky....in vast numbers...hence its nickname The widow maker...excerpt from wiki.p

In 1960 the Luftwaffe received it first Lockheed F-104 Starfighter jets. The Starfighter remained in service for the entire duration of the Cold War, with the last being taken out of service in 1991. The Luftwaffe received a total of 916 Starfighter, 292 of which crashed resulting in the deaths of 116 pilots. The disastrous service record of the Starfighter led to the Starfighter crisis in 1966 as a reaction to 27 Starfighter crashes with 17 casualties in 1965 alone. The West German public referred to the Starfighter as the Witwenmacher (widow-maker), fliegender Sarg (flying coffin), Fallfighter (falling fighter) and Erdnagel (tent peg, literally "ground nail")

Ahhhh.......the key words "up and down".  That's the big problem, the Sea Kings tend to come down when they're not supposed to. Usually with quite a thud and ensuing repairs.

Taken from 'Requiem for the Sea King' by CBC News...

"They are known as the "ancient" Sea Kings, the "geriatric" Sea Kings, the "venerable" Sea Kings. They have been called "flying coffins." Purchased with considerable fanfare by the federal government in 1963, when they turned heads with their impressive exploits, the Sea Kings are now a sick, aging fleet, with pieces literally falling out of the skies. Canada bought 41 of the single-rotor Sea Kings, technically known as the Sikorsky CH-124 Sea King. Twenty-eight of them remain in service, and those still flying are often hit by flameouts, engine stalls, generator failures and gearbox problems. Pilots have died flying them, falling into oceans, crashing into muskeg – more so the older they get."

Let's just say that when they do a fly over during special occasions, spectators have an ingrained habit of cringing and searching out the nearest shelter  :D
