Maurice Utrillo?

Hi guys, a comlete novice here. Bought a picture for my girlfriend in a small village antique shop. I have researched the autor and given how much I have pay for it, it has to be a reproduction, or is it?? It is visibly an old oil painting, in good condition, about 35x40 cm. What you guys think??

I can make out the "Artists"...first name as being Maurice...but not the whole of the surname...perhaps you can write it down for us...

author is in the name of the topic, Maurice Utrillo, French guy, 1883-1955. I boght this in South London. Thanks.

thnx for da link, will have to take it to couple of dealers to have it looked at. His stuff seem to be going for anything between 40-200 000 US and simply cannot belive that my 20£ painting could be worth that much  ::)

Is it a canvas or a panel?...and just because you say it was cheap...does,nt mean its a repo....

Oil on canvas, little old paper sticker on the back with name and date of birth plus handvriten possibly name of the spot on the painting.

Stranger things have happened...i can assure you of that...your "£20"...could be the real deal....let us know how you get on...and if it is the real deal....i drink Malt whisky.....  ;D...and i,m in the UK  ;D.

where did the doctor come from???...are you saying it might be in latin...or its similar to the way a doctor would write on a prescription...if so then its Latin
