Help identifying possible very old Satsuma Jar?
« on: September 15, 2012, 02:39:38 pm »
Can someone help me identify this jar? It is about 3" tall and 3.5" diameter. It has crackle in glaze and some discoloration from age. I'm assuming it is earthenware. Any help will be appreciated.

your mark...and the mark on my link...have the same elements....they are just arranged differently..the period of the one in the link is 1868...1912....so with both having the same elements...just arranged differently...i feel it may be safe to assume that yours is from this period....

Do you think mine is in the same $200 price range? What do you think it is used for Tea? or Snuff? Thanks for your help...I really appreciate the feedback.

I think yours is in that price bracket...as the elements are the same...but in a different order...which could indicate younger or older?..it is most likely for holding tea...for had it been for snuff...then i feel that it would have had a seal of some sort...
