Round wooden bowl
« on: September 22, 2012, 12:16:44 pm »
Another freebie - and I like this.  Looks handcrafted.  The lid sits loosely on the top.  The bowl is 7 1/4" diameter and 2 1/2 deep.  Lid is 1/2" larger.  You can see on the inside where the top ring has split.

Just wondering if anyone might know what type of wood, where it might have been made, possible age?  Or if it had a particular use although I believe it is just decorative.

Thank you as always!   ::)

Beautiful! It has a craftsman look, early 20th century, I'll guess oak. I'm getting a northern midwest vibe, Michigan, Wisconsin or the like.

OMG mart thank you but when it comes to furniture or anything wood I have NOT A CLUE!! I have tried to learn from you guys but it will not sink in! (to much glass taking up to much space in the old noggin) I could not tell Early colonial from  neo-classical from arts & crafts from Regency to me it's all just a bunch of beautiful wood. Repairs on wood I know how to do with the hubby building furniture but beyond that I got NOTHIN!! So if it has anything to do with furniture  I just OOOOHH and AAAHH  :D
