Silver Platter
« on: September 30, 2012, 05:03:49 pm »
This and some spoons are what I have been trying to match the marks to. I just want to know the maker, date, history and value. Plated or sterling? I polished the front (somewhat) and didn't the back.... lol

This looks like sterling...plating marks usually say....E.P.N.S....o ver here that is....but i,m sure similar standards apply over where you are...and this mark...does,nt look like a plate mark....value wise...well the price of silver is high and if we can ascertain from what era it is...then the value will be market
I make no excuses,and no apologies....but i like a good Malt,

These are not sterling markings.  So, most likely plated.

Is the platter heavy for it's size?

Is that R B A star ?

Dimensions of platter?

I'm from the South - but please don't mistake my Southern Manners/Accent/Charm as a weakness!

It is heavy for its size.... I cant make out the markings.  The first two look the same to me, either b or r. and the last one is either an i or t. the dimension of it is 17.5 inches wide.
