Since Harley Davidson is a company name,,and its a brand which is registered would be different rule !! The problem with the chair is only construction methods can be verified and no way to tell if the same methods were used on all !!  May or may not have been !! Many workers in that factory so could have been varied by each worker !!  Same holds true with many of the period pieces by Duncan Phyfe and others !!   "Attributed to" is easy to say,,, hard to prove !!

Whoops back to all of you. Thanks for the assortment of comments.  The bottom of the chair is covered with a black cloth that I hesitate to take off for fear I might not be able to get it back on.
The dimensions are
44.5 inches to the top of the crest
24 inches to the top of the arm
17 inches to the top of the seat
27 inches wide at the arms
23 inches deep at the seat
Yes, I am interested in selling the chair. There is an identical one on ebay that has been listed for $2495.  Of course it doesn't sell.   I am trying to get an idea of the reasonable value. Thanks.

The cloth on bottom is just a dust cover so its not of any importance to the sale !! Most perspective buyers would rather see the construction to judge the approx age of the chair than see the dust cover !! You might consider removing one edge at the leg attachment !! That would be easy to put back using the same tacks !!

OK I removed a portion of the dust cover, it practically disintegrated.  (Fortunately I was able to get it back on without looking too bad).  You can't really see much.  There are criss crossed straps over the bottom.  I was not about to remove them.   There are springs between the straps and the top padding - which feels and sounds like horsehair.  I took some pics but they don't show a lot.  Hope this helps some.  Thanks

From the nail holes it looks like it might have had these type of springs in it originally.

I agree from the looks of the holes!  It has definitely been made over...which happens to lots of older pieces.

My opinion is still basically the same !! Can`t be determined accurately if its from his factory without having it examined by someone that is an expert on his construction methods and that will cost if you can find one !! I would just put a price on it and see what happens !!
