Sapphire are you going to leaveme hanging! My poor Mr. Butch! People hate him without knowing hime. Discrimination! He was abused by bad people and was saved by a wonderful women in the Kentucky court system. Pilots who donate their planes and free time flew him to me. I'm a foster flunky. ;D Nothing is more loving and sweet!

BSL  a.k.a. Breed Specific Legislation  =   Bull Shit Laws

Four years ago I fought alongside thousands of others in our province to stop this law from being passed through our legislature (hidden in the mess called a housekeeping bill). We had two weeks notice and we bloody well won!  I have watched and cried over the stories worldwide, of dogs murdered based solely on their breed/looks. My girl was allowed to live out her entire life........and not be murdered by blind, ignorant politicians and courts.

Rant over (told you not to get me going)

Sasha......adopted at 6, twice through a so called rescue (almost 4 years). The year in between she spent muzzled and chained outside 24 hrs a day ...... attacked by dogs while muzzled, she came to me terrified of a halti, any form of tie out or leash, any  quick movement overhead or near her body and severely dog aggressive.

We said goodbye to her a year ago this Nov. 1 at the age of 12

Moses (now 5 yrs old) arrived in our life completely unplanned one week to the day after we lost Sasha. From what we can gather from his demeanor and the little we know of his life for the 9 months prior to coming to us..........he is permanently traumatized  from being kept in a basement most of his life, he will not eat if his food is put in the kitchen, he will not approach within four feet a kitchen counter or appliance, any loud sharp noise will make him 'vaporize'.......he didn't know what another dog was, a toy, how to play, had never seen clouds, birds or any other 'normal' thing we take for granted. We drove 8 hours round trip to pick him up from a temporary foster who convinced the owner (his second) to hand him over to her rather than to the vet he had made an appointment with to have him 'put to sleep' (murdered) the day before we arrived.

"First they came for the Doberman Pinschers
and I didn't speak out because my dog was not a Doberman.

Then they came for the Rottweilers
and I didn't speak out because my dog was not a Rottweiler.

Then they came for the Pit Bulls
and I didn't speak out because my dog wasn't a Pit Bull.

Then they came for my dogs..."

Our dogs have all been rescues and  rehomes........and all breeds deemed 'dangerous' somewhere. B.......S......L

Foster flunkies are the BEST!!  ;)

greenacres, you'd love Nova Scotia. When BSL swept Ontario literally thousands (that lived) were transported to the Maritimes with us getting the bulk of them.  You don't want to be a politician (at any level) and try to pass that crap here..........there's a massive, polarized lynch mob made up of bully families.

Now that wullie and I have totally butchered your thread I will leave it with one more 'dog related' tidbit. Something that each and every province and state should have............wha t we have here thanks to three women who cared enough and decided to do something about ......lost dogs.

Through Facebook they started a site and also a website where lost and found dogs could be reported. Through FB, the page with over 7,500 members now..........missin g and found dogs are reposted and shared from home to home. Originally they had hoped to reunite at least one dog per week with it's family.........in their first year, almost 500 found their way home!  And all it took was everyday people who cared.  ;)

It's tragic! These dogs gave their lives for services men! When you look at antique photos and postcards most of the dogs are pits. Now that low lives decided to fight them and mistreat them it's the dogs fault! Let them ever try to take my dog! I will go to jail for him. He also has some fear issues, but I don't care. If you don't like my dog don't come over! ;D ;D Sapphire, Sasha was beautiful, and Moses is so hansome. He so lucky to have you. I could rant on about so much, but it's a love hate issue.

I guess we love our dogs the same way we love our antiques.......they have histories all their own, they have their bumps, dings and flaws......but each in their own way are unique and beautiful.

We had to have our pit put to sleep a couple of weeks ago !!  She was a rescue of sorts as she found us on a Christmas eve about 5 years ago !! She also had been mistreated,,,tied with a wire around her neck,, shot and beaten !! Then dumped here half starved !!  We took her to the vet and had her treated and spayed and she was the best dog even with her quirks !! We have had pits for years and there is no better family dog if treated right !!  Eve didn`t have a mean bone in her body !! She had mammary tumors that almost covered her stomach and had eight surgeries to remove or reduce the ones as they grew large and perforated and additional surgery on both ears because she popped a blood vessel !!  We called her our million dollar dog !!  Eventually the tumors metastisized and went to the brain and lungs so we had little option other than what we did !!  One thing you cannot do with a pit is keep them chained !!  They are family dogs and need to be treated like it !!

Lol, we love them too! ;D My husband rehabs in the inner city. He sees people just throw cats out and say they don't want them. There was a cat hanging around this house, so my husband saw the owner and made a comment. She said she didn't want the cat anymore has he hung at the door and window. My husband call over one guys who works for him and told to get in his truck and handed him the cat. My husband calls me and tells me he getting the cat neutered and cleaned up like a Cadillac and then getting him a home! At my sons house, lol ;D
