What material is this?
« on: October 22, 2012, 03:13:01 pm »
I think I bought this for next to nothing, but I never knew what it was. It's not mother of pearl. I don't think. I've never seen another like it, and believe me I have looked at millions of brooches and pin. What do you think it is?

It looks like Opal in the centre, and amethyst on the outer....
I make no excuses,and no apologies....but i like a good Malt,

Sorry but this piece does not have an opal center  :(   It is faceted milk glass with a pastel iridescence (sprayed on), This is referred to as pearlized. Basically a carnival glass center!!  Really pretty piece!!

Thank you Wendy. So how would I look it up to research the value? Would it be Iridescent Milk Glass brooch?

Wendy thanks for the info...knew it wasn't Opal!!!  Figured it was pearlized glass...but not milk glass!
