I was at a gun show and one of the vendors had misc. things from when he was in the military. Said he got them about 50 years ago in japan (I think he said japan)

I'm afraid that these look like stone. See my previous response with the link to photo examples of ivory. The carving is also very crude. Ivory is a precious material and a high-end craftsman would be the one carving it. This is the kind of workmanship you would expect to see on ivory:

The oval plaque I will say maybe !!  The carved pieces,, if they are,, are some of the worst carvings I have seen for supposedly ivory !!  That is not to say they are not but certainly not what I would expect !!  The plaque shows enough crosshatching that it could be but I see none on the carved pieces !!  We have one person here that could possibly tell you what the writing says on the front !!  Maybe he will be on later !!

Thanks so much for your responses. I was told these two pieces are pieces to a chest set. I found an antique shop around were I live that said they will take a look at them, I'll let you know what they say!

Please do let us know !! I am pretty sure like Tales said,, figures are likely a stone of some type !!
