Teapot or something else?
« on: November 18, 2012, 06:09:03 pm »
Hello,
This was in our garage, and my mother said I could try to sell it on ebay, but for the life of my, I can't figure out what it is? I thought it was just a teapot at first, but it comes apart, revealing this internal chimney. I found some persian teapots that were comparable as far as the design of the metalwork went, but nothing like it as to function? If anyone has any ideas, I'd appreciate it. And if you could tell me what it might be worth, even better.

This is my first time on here, so hopefully I get the pictures on here right, if I screw it up I apologize. Thanks!

Have you checked for any markings? The inner piece was probably to keep the liquid warm in the tea or coffee pot. What do the bottoms look like. Are there markings there?

If there were any markings, they are long gone now. I thought that at first too, but there's a couple of hitches, it can't hold water, unless it use to be welded together, and there's no way of getting a candle in that bottom part as far as I can tell, and it has holes in the bottom of the chimney like something is suppose to burn down there. Could it be a version of a hookah, or something like that?

I have seen some pots like this from middles east where hot coals were put in the tube to keep the water hot in the main pot and concentrated tea in the small pot.

Can you post a picture looking down into the large pot please?

This is made in a mini version of a samovar (hot water container and tea) that you find all over Russia.  This is for 1 person whereas the bigger pots are for families!

Samovars are using in Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Turkey, Iran, Morocco, Norway, etc.......

Just search samovars and you will see many styles.

Samovars, coals go in there then. I looked them up and found some similar! Good thing, I couldn't figure how to get the pictures up the others wanted. I had to put it on ebay just to kipe the pictures off of there. :)  Thanks very much all of you!
