At the risk of offending people, a lot of antique dealers are (I will be polite) cheap. Their motto is boy low sell high which means pay a lot less than something is worth to make yourself a huge profit. Then brag to your friends. If you ever offered someone more than they were asking when you knew their price was too low, you are not a member of the rip off club and need to be commended. We all have stumbled across the two dollar bargain at a thrift store. That's not what I am talking about. I am talking about knowing the value and not being satisfied with a 40 or 50 percent profit. If you know you have to put a lot of work into something or hold it for a long time that has some justification. However, if you can flip something for a fifty percent profit and that is not enough, you are greedy. I was a dealer for 30 years and have seen them all. I wish I had a dollar for every con I have seen. I never let other dealers know I was a dealer and what they would try was down right awful. Sorry but you hit a nerve with me.
