Chinese Peacock Vase
« on: November 20, 2012, 06:51:23 pm »
Hello Everyone,

I have a question, my first and I'm certain not my last.
I inherited this vase when my mother passed away a few years ago and I am curious
as to it's age and value.

My mother bought it in Toronto probably in the middle to late seventies.

Height : 14"  Diameter at base : 4 3/4"

I've checked on eBay but can't find anything similar to compare it with therefore I'm
turning to you good people for help.

There was a surge in oriental decorating back in late 70`s and thats about when this was made !!  I redecorated my bedroom in that theme back then !!  Its transferware,, not hand painted !!  The mark on bottom should tell where it was made or at least the area !!  Writing on back probably tells a story that goes along with the picture on front !!  We have one person that can tell you more but he hasn`t been on in a few days !! Your vase was most likely bought from an inport shop originally !!

Thank you for your help mart.  I kind off figured it wasn't very old but I was hoping
it had some value since nowadays all one hears is about the rich Chinese
buying back their art.

I will be posting some more stuff shortly.

Yes but they still have a trade surplus of what $5 trillion ?

Lots of cash for them to buy back their junk, after all we're all buying their crap. :)
