First of all...need dimensions! LOLOL
But I think Mart has it right on (if the dimensions are right). We had those doggone fondue pots growing up and use denatured alcohol to heat them with adjustable flame burners like this.
Now if it is a large pan....they did make items like this to sit on the top of a stove to humidify the home in cold dry weather!
