Animal Milk Bottle?
« on: November 26, 2012, 11:04:32 am »
Is this a bottle for feeding milk to farm animals? It has a star on the bottom with a 52 above it and a 10 below it. No other markings on the bottle. The bottle is about 9" tall and the rubber nozzle is 4" long. Thanks for the help!

Possibly for goats/horses although I have never seen one like that,, certainly not for calves !!  Look at the nipple end,, what size hole is there ??  Put some water in it and turn it up !!  It should just barely drip,, not pour for animals !!,,

You may want to search "animal cage feeder water bottles"  Typically the nozzle area is in metal but at one time they did make them in rubber.  They worked on the principal that when put in the upright position the water wouldn't run out until sucked on by the hamsters, ferrets, etc...

It's been a long time since we've had the gas station attendant check the water in the battery. Chances are if it needed topping off he might bring out a bottle like this, filled with distilled water. Hold your finger over the air vent and it would stop the flow.

Is there a way to look up the star mark to see who used it? I would really like to know how old this thing is

Good one, Rauville, I knew it wasn't for feeding animals but had forgotton about the battery water. I was thinking oil, ... like "differential".

---------------

Ewarnick, ...... what does the top of the bottle look like?

If it has "screwtop" threads then it is probably just a plain ole bottle.

Just like an ironing "sprinkler", you buy the "sprinkler" top and put it on any ole bottle.

Glass bottles in "grease" bays and around "pump" islands could get easily broken, ya know.

Typically water containers for batteries were not glass!!!

HA, maybe that rubber "thingy" is just the cut-off end of a sparkplug wire with the copper wire removed from it.  ;D ;D ;D ;D
