Wullie...be nice.

This style of mix-match is very popular these days.  Now, not saying it will make the owner rich....but in today's mix n match of all styles in furniture, china, crystal.....it is a nice piece!

I'm from the South - but please don't mistake my Southern Manners/Accent/Charm as a weakness!

Thanks again. for your interest. Most of the doors have a keyhole.I have taken a photo of the back of the keyhole.
I have a feeling that it is the base of a dresser as there is a gap where the back meets the top. Also the back has obviously
been put on much later.

I really love it. My home is tastefully furnished....no junk that I can see.

I'm not really interested in value...just age.
I paid 140 aust dollars

Thanks again for input...this is an excellent site.

Annie

Thats most likely a replacement back since the oxidation of the edges does not match the back !!  Better view of the pulls looks more in order with the style !! Love that honey color !!  You did well with this purchase in my opinion !!  I just don`t care for all the frou frou on some older furniture !!  (Don`t like dusting it either) !!  This can be mixed with a lot of styles !!

I bough a nice clock today to sit on my buffet/sideboard. Garage sale again
and only 10 dollars. It is working...ticking away nicely. Its going too fast though.
I opened the back and I think there is a bit(weight maybe) missing from the pendulum.
If I can buy one what size should I get?  Is it around 1930s? Its made in Germany and has the numbers
188076 and PL 12 cm. I can turn on and off the sound of the pendulum. When I turn
it on it wont stop.....aaaah! Its a pretty sound though!

Annie, the picture of the back is too "fuzzy" to clearly see ..... but it looks like at the top of the mechanism is the "slow-fast" adjustment.

If so, it should be a moveable "dial" pointer ...... pointing between the letters "S" and "F" ......... and if your clock is "going too fast" .... then move that "pointer" a smidgen toward the "S" to slow it down a smidgen.

I like it !!  Goes well with the buffet/sideboard !!  I see what you mean by gap at top back,, its possible that there was a wooden back piece that came off or most likely had the screws stripped and didn`t tighten up any more so it was just taken off !!  Wouldn`t have been but a few inches tall !!  Look along that back edge and see if there are holes where it would have attached, if not there they may be under the new backboard !!

If Cogar's solution doesn't work for you, find a clock shop to supply you with the missing part.
