It's got a homemade look. I can't tell the size but it looks like it might be for a child. Possibly for school use? Anyway it's got some craftsman influence possibly early to mid 20th century.

agh interesting!! very good shout i like the idea of that thank you. The only thing is that although it looks small on pictures it does actually fit a suitably sized adult comfortably. Maybe that renders out school use? Anyone else have any ideas?

From the way its made,, it looks like it folds for storage !!  Does it ??   Either that or those runners are made out of scrap tongue and groove flooring or similar !!  Looks like a typical outdoor chair for patio or yard use !!  I agree that it looks home made !!  Most were used in summer and stored for winter !!  Maybe thats why it was in the barn !!

loving that idea i think that's a good one!! It doesn't fold no, everything seems to be very firmly stuck together with nuts and bolts. It could quite possibly be a handmade outdoor chair then!!!

Couldn`t tell much from the pics but I have seen a few that you lift the seat and the rest folds for storage !!  Guess this isn`t one of those !!  Nice find though !!

That chair made me think of what I read the Wagonmasters would order the westward bound immigrants to do, which was, ……. “Throw that furniture out of there, …. you make what you need after you get there”.

Is the seat made of a single plank or several boards glued together? It appears to be very thick.
