Antique Vanity's
« on: November 29, 2012, 07:28:24 pm »
My mother has two antique vanity's that she wants to sell.  The problem is determining value.  I'm pretty sure they're at least 75 years old.  Here's some pics I've taken:

I'd like to hear any opinions on these.

The top one is from the 20s; the bottom one may be w bit later so not 100 years old. The value may be around $200-$250 apiece. Very nice!!

Agree, the top one looks like Jacobean revival from that period ( cant see with those tiny pics and enlarging takes too long on photo sites) kneehole dresser with step-back top !!
Bottom, a little later probably 30`s, Queen Anne legs with tri-fold mirror !!  Condition didn`t look too good on it !!  Maybe $100. to $125. depending on area !!

I'd say they're in fair condition so $200 to $250 seems like a good price.  She's going to contact some local antique dealers so I wanted to get an idea first just to make sure she doesn't get ripped off.

Depending on your location,, I would not expect to get that price !!  These are pretty common and most shops would only pay around $50. to $75 each or less !! And that would be in a good area for sales of this type furniture !!

Yeah my price was dependent on her selling them directly to the buyer. Retail price would be half that at best. Also despite the fact that they're attractive pieces Mart is right:  they're not rare.

Well she'll be happy to at least get something for them as she needs the space.  Thanks everyone for all your help.
