Sideboard
« on: December 06, 2012, 03:29:17 pm »
Good evening all.

I have absolutely no idea about 1) antiques 2) furniture.  I work in IT and am 25 years old so I am hoping someone could help me with a piece of furniture I have.

As you can see from the pictures its a side board.  Its fairly chunky and carved.

Anyway, ill let the experts take a look and maybe you could tell me what you think?

Thanks in advanced for your time

Jason

Oak..1940,s..the dark furniture market in the UK...is in the doldrums...at the moment...this sideboard has very little value...at auction...you,d be lucky to get £30....
I make no excuses,and no apologies....but i like a good Malt,

Looks like another eclectic sideboard with craftsman and Jacobean influences. Probably ca. 1940 or so and perhaps worth $200 more or less depending on location.

So is it worth anything or is £30 my best bet?  If its only worth that much then maybe ill just offer it to the British heart foundation

I am further north and they are still sideboards. We also call some of them buffets and servers but I am not sure what the distinction is. I posted a Stickley one a while back. Did I call it a sideboard or a server or a buffet? Hmmmm. It was small and had no top so it was probably a server. Call them all bars and that works for me.

Can we assume,then...that these are the "bars" that do it for you.... ;D ;D ;D
