Looks like something a lady would use to keep a wrap around her shoulders !!  Clip it on the front and it doesn`t fall off !!  Just guessing though !! We had something similar but two clips and small chain !!  I really have no idea !!

Looks to be a vintage glove holder / clip   kinda like this one.  They came in many shapes & forms

Actually mart you would hook the chain to your purse and clip the gloves with the pincher's  :)

seems such a palavar...to go through...when you can simply stuff yer gloves in your pocket..or in the case of the ladeeeees..yer bags.... ;D

I didn't see any "spring" on it ..... thus it is a "tension" or "gravity" clamp for holding an item in a vertical position ..... via the weight of the clamp itself holding it closed.

Looks like ya could put a sheet of paper or a photo in the clamp and it would dangle there until you pulled it out.
