I got this big painting done with tar. One big pirate ships and one small next to it on the sunset red backround. Does anyone know who is she, year done, value...?

I believe is panel and all paint is done with tar. I don't know about any of this... It's almost 1,5 metter tall..

So Far this is the only images of the artist EDITA..that i have found...but she/he..never painted that ship..so its back to searching

I spent lots of time looking on the internet for a painter with that name. I got nothing. The painting is so beautiful and it looks old + that Chicago company has the sticker on the back.

You may be able to contact the people who put up this picture through this website.

It seems that Windsor commissioned a number of artists and then reproduced their work.  This picture looks very similar, but the signature is on the other side and seems to start with a G... I think that this is a mass produced product from Windsor, not specific to the artist.

I've also seen reference to paintings called "Silent Galleons", "Spanish Galleon" (by Brittini V5330-6601), "mystic galleon" (painting in oil by LEE BURR)  from Windsor, but couldn't find pictures.

Thank you guys. The painting is an original. I think is tar because it looks like it. Even the artist signature is done with the same "tar". Its on panel (if I know what I'm talking about) backround is red(ish) and everything else is "tar". Its a very beautiful art work.

I do not doubt that the painting was done by hand - actually, I have no idea.  However, it seems possible that the pattern/picture was purchased by Windsor and then reproduced, perhaps by multiple artists by hand.  Here is an attachment of the picture earlier referenced as 'Silent Ships'.  I took a screen shot b/c that was the only way I could share it.

You can see the signature on the lower left corner.  It does not look like Edita, which led me to the above conclusion.

Parents had the same painting in their house, bought at a Department store in the 60's.   Looks like a mass produced decorative painting from that time period.
