I wouldn`t !! Would cost more than its worth !!  I would get it out of that home made frame its already done too much damage !! You can see the stretched threads !!  Value,, Maybe $50. !!

Also I see a Phillips head screw on the back. It could predate the framework though and that wouldn't be unusual.

modern picture hanging wire also, but again it could easily pre-date the frame.

It's not particularly old. Loads of these with scenes depicting 18th life. The biggest giveaway is the reverse.

Thank you all for the responses, even if you did wind up disappointing me!

I posted these pics on another site and got this answer, for those who want to know more about these tapestries:

Tapestries like this were made in Belgium or France and generally post date 1890. Most tapestries like this post date World War One and were made for the Tourist market. Values for examples that are faded and worn are very modest at under $150.00 at auction.


Oh well, at least I don't have to wonder about it anymore.
