Help please with this three handled pottery jug vase
« on: January 11, 2013, 07:06:45 am »
Hi. I'm thinking this is from a local Welsh studio or private kiln but thought i'd post some pics here in case anyone recognised the style / make ? Lovely green abd brown glazes, lower down with a pearlescent effect, style as a tree trunk with three twisting branch handles. Looks to be early to mid 20th.

I would agree with a local potter,, inside striations look like it was done on a wheel also three small dots equally spaced on bottom would mean smaller kiln !! That is where it was elevated to fire it !!  You might check on that creamy colored clay,, you might be able to track the artist if in your area !!  ie; ask other independent potters !!  Hard to determine age from these pics !!

Mart, I think you are way off base... just kidding. I think your opinion and advice is as good as it can be on this. I can't add a thing.
