I thought so, too, back in the third post.

I've never heard of a JF&S for Sheffield. There are comprehensive lists out there but not seen that maker.

Yes, I know !!  If there were a J.F & S it would have shown up in a search somewhere,, as many as we have done !!  Joseph Elliott EP is an excellent quality for plated ware !! And his mark does have the  S for Sheffield !! That limits where the maker would be,, no point in looking other places !!

I'm guessing that J.F. & S is the mark of a cutlery maker, rather than a silversmith. I wish I had more to back this theory up.

Id like to know a Year it was made.  If the pattern has a name.  Along with a good estimate of price.

Well i,m going to stick my neck on the block..and agree with Mart...I found a stamp...that,s identical to your J.F SS EP....but,its J.E over SS EP...which is a Birmingham mark..what like Mart posted...nowhere can i find...J.F S S EP...have you never thought that perhaps with all the polishing that cutlery got..that perhaps what you,re seeing now..was,nt always like that...
I make no excuses,and no apologies....but i like a good Malt,
