New England Pottery Mug Value

I have this old piece that the local antique shops can't value. They say it's beyond what they know. So maybe you guys might.
Just has crazing but no breaks crack or chips on it
mark is from 1883-1886
 
4" high
3" across the top
about 5" at its widest

Why do you think this is a New England pottery ?? Can you tell what the small letters top and bottom of the diamond are ??

Yes it is a nice piece, unfortunately it's just suffering the same fate as most other Victorian era things at the moment.  At least where I am located.

As for the other poster who said their friend paid $100+ for an identical one, I couldn't get more than $40 for a great one at the height of the market, 10 years ago.

I paid $5.00 and was pissed I had to pay that much at a thift shop.

I am finding that thrift stores are charging pretty high prices these days especially when they don't seem to take into account condition.  At our thrift store right now, they have a Penguin ice bucket which they want $20 for.  The wood handles are in poor condition.  I was at a MCM shop last week & they had one in beautiful condition for $25.

I sell china tea cups & saucers for $7 each, most of the Thrift stores charge $10+

Yeah, suddenly the Salvation Army fancies itself an antique shop and the prices shoot up sky high. They generally have no clue what they have and will put a high price on something frilly looking while they  overlook a good piece of vintage pottery. We have a place where the price depends on Herbs mood. You can usually pile stuff in the counter and he will tell you, oh give me $3. That store rocks
