That did not show when I looked at it earlier but even given that,, I still would not say it is 18th century Meissen !!  Did not see the age on the foot that would normally be present given that age and it just doesn`t have what I would be looking for in a Meissen piece !!   But if you think it is,, I will let you tell this person that she has a very expensive vase/bowl and give her the value on it !!

This looks like Meissen but i'd need a clearer image. Could be a 250 year old original or one of their later remakes. Or a Samson type copy.

I can get a clearer picture. You want the picture of the mark at the bottom correct?

Yes but also a good close picture of the porcelain and design without the flash. At an angle so it's possible to judge age / quality.

Pictures incoming

I tried to do some family research. My parents had them for over 60 years and they said when they received these two vases they were close to a 100 years old at that point. I have a few other pieces I will be posting as we'll. My father traveled all across the world and would receive these types of gifts before he would leave the country to come home.

If this piece was an original what would it's value be? If it's not an original what would it's value be?

Well,, I will admit that these new pics change my opinion of this piece !! Remember we can only go by what we can see so the best pics possible are required. These are much better !! Only problem I would have at the present is the lack of wear on the foot but its possible that it wasn`t used or moved much !! You would really need an expert to do a hands on inspection to establish value but if its Meissen from that period then it would be a substantial amount if no damage, chips ect !! The Augustus Rex mark is one of the most sought after of all the Meissen marks !!

I see you say substantial, but what do you mean by substantial? What does the majority of AR sell for? $100-$500 or are we talking $1000-$2000 if it was an original piece?

Just doing a bit of searching.......and this may be way out there.......but this vase sold through Christies in 2010.  It has the blue  AR underglaze mark and what struck me was the birds and especially those bugs.  Here is the write up from the listing and a screen shot of a close up.
