Like To Know More About This William Goebel Item
« on: February 07, 2013, 02:58:18 pm »
I recently came across this item, looks like a small vase or beaker with an interesting design. From the maker's mark I've determined it is from William Goebel in Bavaria, Germany. I'm guessing it's around 1920-1930, but it is just that, a guess.

Does anybody know more about it? Date, name, use, value, etc?

Thanks!

Art Deco Style vase/planter from early 1930's.

Here is your maker's mark information:

Classic Art Deco. I found nothing either. My gut feeling is that it is a rare piece and will be worth at least 200 - 300.00. Maybe a lot more. Do not sell it until you know for sure.

This is from the time of "head vase" popularity so just in that it has value.  Add the name, style, etc...I am betting there is someone out there willing to pay $250 to $350+ for it!

Very nice piece. I know that the Goebels are collectible, but they lost their artistic approach a lot even by the fifties if this is any indication of pre-war.
Take every price I say with a grain of salt...

I don't have it with me right now, but it's about 4" tall; about 2" diameter. Looking at the photo I posted, it does make the head look bigger than it really is. It's a cup or beaker, more than I'd say it was a vase. Thanks!

I found "The Goebel Collector's Guide" in Google Books and apparently the RX series is for "Raucherartikel Aschenbecher", i.e. Smoker's Items / Ashtrays, etc.

My first thought was an egg cup but if the RX is for Smoker's Items maybe a cigarette holder.
