new purchase, so pretty, can anyone tell me its maker?  It looks brand new. any info appreciated

Wheel cut cake plate !! Wendy may recognize the pattern !!  Starburst of some sort but there are a lot of similar patterns !!  It was easy to cut for the retail market  !!

I agree it's a starburst pattern for sure, but so far can't find name of the maker.  It was a very popular design made by so many manufacturers.

I would say this is more of a fan & diamond pattern but by who will take lots of searching. Mart if you are saying starburst due to the center design many companies used this center "star" design for many different outer design and  patterned pieces. You would go by the outer design to find the pattern 
sugarcube try searching fan & diamond, diamond & fan, pineapple and fan , Straw and fan, straw diamond & fan to see if you can find a match to the pattern you may not find your platter but may find a match in a glass etc  Good luck

there's a month of sundays searching I think....why don't they mark glassware other than little stickers that always come off in the wash.

also wendy, I wrote to you on the other forum, about the plate design--so cute--do you use that sticky tacky?

My opinion is, for what it's worth ... (both my opinion and the platter) ... not very much because that platter doesn't look like "cut" glass to me.

So, until you can provide more detailed pictures of the per say "cuts" then I believe one can call it "pressed cut" or "molded", or whatever, ..... but I'll just call it "Kroger Glass", ..... aka: Kroger Supermarket Glass which was offered as a sales "gimmic" to their customers for free or at a nominal charge. 

Now whether Kroger distributed it or not, I do not know, .... that's just my designated "name" for that type of glassware.

It appears to me to be wheel cut which was not uncommon for mid priced glassware !!  But you are probably the best judge of if it is or not !!  Cut glass will have crisp, sharp edges,,pressed or molded will have smooth rounded edges !!  Your platter should have both rounded and smooth at the top and crisp/sharp around the pattern on bottom !!
