Whats the story on it ??  It is damaged/worn so bad till I am not sure it could be made usable !! I don`t see anything unique about it !!

Yes ,it's pretty distressed. I don't know much about it except that it came from a collectors estate. I do believe it is well over 100 yrs. old. I was hoping someone out there knows who,where, when and what it is.

Without having some real specifics on this rug , much would be guesswork here from me .

The size of the rug , knot count & so on would be great for starters .

One deal to be rather watchful about with these old fellers is condition , such as dryrot,moth damage/eggs,sun bleaching & so on .

What I do like about what I see is that this item appears (from photos only) to be in somewhat unrestored condition .
If indeed this one had been owned by a collector (rugs , not garbage) it would have surely had been cleaned @ least once .

just don,t expect to do any flying on it... .but having said that...i like it and i,ve got one as well, that is over a hundred years old....and it may or may hot be valuable....but it does,nt always have to be about how much a things worth....if you like it...and it has,nt eaten much of your corn...then keep it...and enjoy it....

Not much to add , excepting (in the event you didn't know) the fact that it's rather standard practice for folks to use a bit of touch-up skill (with OTC 'majicmarkers') to help cover high-contrast (as in exposed knots) areas , esp in Sarouk rugs .

There are several on-line 'estimator' features with 'rug' websites , but they too will require knowing the size & knot-count (per square inch) for calculating the current retail worth of the item , chigato .
