Tiffany & Co. Teacup by Lenox - real? value?
« on: February 28, 2013, 08:35:39 pm »
I was wondering if anyone is familiar with the markings of Lenox and Tiffany & Co.  This teacup is inextremely great condition. My research tells me it is probably from 1911. I've found it very difficult to research teacups!

Besides the brand markings there is also H-48 and 1620 on the bottom.

It's one single teacup and saucer...I'm probably giving it to my best friend as an engagement gift as she collects teacups but it would be nice to know what I have first!

Any help would be great!

Someone here will probably be able to give you some direction. I did some research awhile back on Real vs fake but I am not sure I saved it. I will have to look and see if I still have it.
I love auctions/antique stores! I love old photos & books. This is the best group on the internet. :) I try to get on often, but I've had 2 brain surgeries & a back surgery. The pain is awful so I don't get on as often as I would like. It doesn't take away my love of old stuff.

Where did you get them? This is the pattern that comes up on Google search.

H- 48 I think means hand painted and the artist. Still checking.

Mount Vernon pattern

With the same floral swag though more elaborate trim. The whole shebang sold for $950.

Why would it matter..if it were a fake..after you took the time to give it as a gift...the value is in the giving....Not the value of the gift.....
I make no excuses,and no apologies....but i like a good Malt,

Oh course! Still interested in knowing as I'd like to be able to look for more and be able to know what I should be paying for a single teacup and saucer! Thanks for your response!

The pattern, "The Mount Vernon" pattern by Lenox, was sold by many fine china stores.  This just signifies that it was sold by them.  A cup/saucer can sell from $28 to $35 depending on area/if you are a store/customer demand.  High end is insurance value.

Completed listings on Ebay show that it was attempted to be sold for $49.95 and $69.95 by several sellers and NONE sold.

Agree totally with Wullie, if it is a gift...then the value is in the "kindness of the GIVER of the gift" not the $$ of the item itself.

Laughed out loud on that one greenacres.  Wishful thinking that they get over 1800.00 for one piece!

HOWEVER NOTE that it has a sterling silver holder for BOULLION CUP (thus two handles) with a Lenox liner...which is way more than a tea cup and saucer.  That sterling silver bumps the price up every time!  :)

Thanks for your help....someone else in the thread found the pattern! It's called MT Vernon!
