history of cabinet
« on: March 11, 2013, 06:04:59 am »
I have a cabinet which my dad always used as a bedside one, but on clearing my parents house I have found all is not what it seems.  The cabinet is dark in colour and the front of it has some ornate carvings, but I have found that the top is an addition to the orignal cabinet.  On the side near the top is a small hole with a metal insert.  Inside the cabinet there are holes visible in what would have been the orignal top, and there are two labels inside.  One lists the patents and the countries valid, and the other is a diagram of some sort of motor that went inside.   Anyone any idea what it could have been used for, how old it is and how much it might be worth?

Sounds like an old radio, phono or TV cabinet that was "re-purposed" to use as a nightstand.
