I got this antique plate..
« on: March 21, 2013, 02:37:51 pm »
I got this gorgeous plate from a thrift shop. It is ceramic or earthenware and has a raised floral pattern. The bottom of it has a Staffordshire knot with a number 5 imprinted in the clay. These are the only markings it has. I have searched the web for the longest time and have found nothing on this plate. I have found plenty that have the Staffordshire knot printed on with other markings but nothing like this. It measures 8" across.

Any help would be appreciated! =)

In case you haven`t read here already !! Apparently since the Stafford or Staffordshire knot is a universal symbol any one of the working potteries may have made it !!  The number is usually the style number that identifies that pattern !!  Most  patterns made by a mfr will be identified by number even if named patterns !!

Check ebay !!  Usually they show up there at some point !!  Many of these were made for the American market !!
