What cracks me up about the American language is its bastardization..of what, it was, when the first English settlers landed in America,..and how it went from "thee said to thy"...to what you have now,..but then i suppose the same could be said of the Scots language...Och aye the noo!!.... ;D...and just in case you two Texan Maids, forget....its a "Ferrule"..... ;D

Now we,re off again they ain,t bolsters...these are Bolsters....well over here that is ..where your Bastardized English originally came from...Bolsters are either a long pillow, or a broad bladed cold chisel,used for cutting stone, ;D....

Actually ACROSS THE POND they are also referred to as bolster!!!  Also called a ferrule or guard.
