Antique Table/Stand

I've had this out at my sale for 2 years and I think maybe about 3 people even looked at it, but didn't pursue a purchase. I have a $25 price tag on it. It's 20" wide, 15" deep and 28" tall and in pretty rough shape - the top is wobbly, much paint/lacquer damage and one leg has been broken and mended. Should I reduce the price? If so, to what?

Again a piece no one will buy, lots of damage , I say Shabby Chic it and stage it with like stuff on top and it will sell. I can not sell an tea cup to save my life but stick it to a old glass candle holder hang crystals from it and put a candle in the cup and shabby chic folks will pay me at least $65.00!!

I agree Wendy !!  Problem is,, people have no imagination !! But if you do it and stick it under their noses,,,they say,,Why didn`t I think of that !!!   Table top should be easily tightened and paint can hide the repair if you fill it a bit !! Leave the top to keep the aged look and take an old candle and rub the wear and age points, along the edges ect !!  Paint away !!  Then the candle wax should be easy to scrub off leaving the old part showing through in selected areas !!  Put a nice flower or two on top or a candleholder with an old scarf and flower and its Shabby Chic !!! Might even raise the price a bit !!

LOL @ burn it. Stand has some issues no doubt, it probably had casters on it when new, maybe a new set would help.

 as its been in that state for 2 years....what hope is there,that it,ll ever see a new set of castors...let alone it ever seeing a new home....perhaps it could be given as a freebie..along side something else...that has a slightly higher price..than before...thus making the buyer think they are getting a bargain...its called a ..loss leader over here...

Mark it down to $6.00, sell it for $5.00 or even less if you get an offer.

It's a shame. I think my parent's paid $100 for it an an auction back in the early 1970s. That's like over $400 in today's money.

You might try an age old sales initiative. RAISE THE PRICE!!!!
I have a friend who taught me this one.  Whenever he can't sell items in his store for over 2 months....he raises the price!!!  It works every time!  People are interested in the higher priced item that they can "bargain down" on and get a good price!

It appears to be a nice table.  If it was in my area it would sell for your price in a heartbeat!!!!

I've heard of this strategy but I've never seen it work.

A house we are interested in sat without interest at a certain price for over a year. The owners re-listed and raised the price by $1K. Since this house is in a small town, the prevailing thought is "if it didn't sell at the first price, why would anyone want it for $1K higher?" The house has now been sitting for weeks without being shown once.
