Brown and White Stoneware
« on: May 30, 2013, 03:32:21 pm »
My parents had this old piece in a storage locker for awhile and recently gave it to me. I couldn't find out what it is exactly or who makes it or how much it might be worth. I think the 6 on the front is the number of gallons. Not sure though. Any info appreciated. Thanks!

I can tell the crown mark indicates it was made by Robinson-Ransbottom Pottery(RRP CO) of Roseville, Ohio. That is not to be confused with Roseville Pottery. The 6 does mean it is 6 gallons. Stoneware from the company is not particularly collectible.

Thanks for the information. Now that I know who makes it, I found some for sale online. One 6" piece is going for over $100 on ebay.

Definitely looked familiar to me, because my husband has a lot of these pieces (jugs and crocks).  I got sick of seeing them after awhile, ha ha. He has them in his collection room and some in the living room.
I love auctions/antique stores! I love old photos & books. This is the best group on the internet. :) I try to get on often, but I've had 2 brain surgeries & a back surgery. The pain is awful so I don't get on as often as I would like. It doesn't take away my love of old stuff.

My husband estimates it to probably $50 or $60. He agrees it is a less desireable piece  Robinson-Ransbottom).  The market on them is so up and down all the time.
