Two porcelain figurines - Need help with info
« on: June 07, 2013, 03:54:31 am »
I have no knowledge about porcelain figurines, so I wonder if anyone can help me with these two.
Is it new-made junk, or not?

Very common recently made reproductions of 18th and 19th century figures.

( and by recent i mean last 50 years )

Thanks for the info!
Do you know who makes them and where?

Many places throughout Europe and they were also faked / copied in South East Asia when they were more popular.

Derby, Chelsea and Bow were making figure groups like this in England
Many factories in Germany and Bohemia ( as it was then )
Samson ( France ) copied the best from all the best factories
All of the above were of much better quality and usually marked on the base. They also used a different paste for the porcelain which modern copies fail to replicate.

They're generally seen as dated and unfashionable now but some people still view them as attractive pieces for the mantle place or sideboard.
