Tap and die set,antique?
« on: June 15, 2013, 02:21:08 pm »
Hi,all found this at a garage sale today, looks to be pretty old. I can't find a whole lot of info. It is marked Butterfield & co Derbyline VT. I paid 30 bucks, just curious of age and if I overpaid(I don't think I overpaid) sorry I can only post one pic at a time, and it will most likely be sideways.

Bigwull is right, ...... just price a new set.

Here's a nuther one:  http://balsters.ipower.com/tap_die_sets.html

The age doesn't matter as long as the taps n' dies haven't been mistreated.

The quality of those old ones are on par with the expensive ones of today.

That's a handsome old set. The company had an interesting history with the factory being astride the US / Canadian border between Derbyline and Rock Island, Quebec. I wonder if that would even be possible today?

(BTW: The sideways photos can be righted if you "right click" on the address and open as a separate view. At least on my computer.)
