Sir Roger De Trumpington 1289
« on: June 19, 2013, 09:03:00 pm »
I was just going through some of the stuff we bought at that auction a few weeks ago.  This was in one of the boxes.  I have no idea what it is. I mean it looks like a wall hanging, but is there some kind of signifigance about this? It says on the bottom Sir Roger De Trumpington 1289.  I have seen some different things on the internet that say Sir Roger De Trumpington 1289 Brasses. I can't find anything on this piece. Maybe it is someone's homemade piece or something? I don't know.  Sorry about all the photos of it.

I love auctions/antique stores! I love old photos & books. This is the best group on the internet. :) I try to get on often, but I've had 2 brain surgeries & a back surgery. The pain is awful so I don't get on as often as I would like. It doesn't take away my love of old stuff.

Also, I threw a bunch of stuff out, but I kept this out of the boxed lot.  There was something in me that I felt I should keep it for a little while.  Oh, and so this is probably from the U.K., right?

It is pretty cool to know what it is.  It has imperfections that I believe were not afterward. It is not perfectly flat in the middle of his body. It kind of waves inward. It is not dented as if someone hammered it because if it were, then I would think there would be marks from a hammer or object hitting it.  I don't know what to do with it, honestly. I don't think I should toss it in the trash though.

Okay, I will look at that link (I already brought it up on another tab).  Thanks for your input/advice! :)  I am glad I didn't throw it away with some of the other stuff.
