My Pets picture.
« on: July 05, 2013, 12:51:38 pm »
Hello all,

I feel I'm being very productive tonight. ;)

This piece has been in our family for before anyone can remember and my parents are curious as to what it's story is.

I personally don't like it, it just seems to have stuck with us! ;D

It's titled 'My Pets'.

As always, any information is much appreciated!

Regards,

Clint

That is a tramp art frame. It is made from chip carved wood and considered folk art. The print is a Victorian, or slightly later, piece that was probably traded or sold with the frame. Those are becoming very hard to find.

Thanks frogpatch!

The frame seems a lesser quality so the 'tramp' aspect makes sense! ;)

Regarding being hard to find, do you mean the print or frame or both?

Clint

Thanks all!

Looks like it will be sticking with me a little longer!

It measures 22x28 inches, based on the photos can anyone give me an idea of value?

Regards,

Clint

Yepper!!!  These are just going up in price!  Family members don't care for them and toss them or burn them.  Thus, getting harder to find!  Glad you asked!!!

Nice little article on Tramp Art and this guy does have a book out!

Thank all for the input.

To be honest I had considered throwing at away a few times, but it was just so unusual it had to be investigated!

I'm glad I asked about it!

;D ;D I believe every piece of tramp art is unusual ...... cause there's probably no 2 piece alike.
