It looks like a Kas . A Dutch inspired cabinet or wardrobe, popular in Penn & NY during the 18th century.

No, probably not, it looks more in the Victorian era because of the applied wood ornaments.

as Jacon says its probably not...but having said that...it could be....but we,d need to see close ups of the construction methods i.e. joints, dovetails on the drawers, pics of screws,..plus dimensions....here,s one that i found..that is not dissimilar to yours...just scroll down...

Another clue to Victorian era is, there are many different styles represented in the same piece which the Victorians liked to do. The William & Mary ball feet (18th century), the geometric bottom drawer fronts(17th century), ditto the case sides and finally, the crown molding which does not match any of the earlier styles.

Naturally, this is all a guess as it is nearly impossible to authenticate old furniture with photo's alone.

Where is cabinet located? is it in europe or USA. Since this site is in USA i always assume posters are, it would be helpful if posters identified where they/the object are located.

Spot on Jacon4 !!  I would have called it a gentlemans chest !!  Yes indeed !!  Your location is important to know when identifying furniture !!

Pretty modern round head screws holding the lock mech. but I see it has been removed and reset at some point !! Need to see the dovetails that are on the drawers. And if no screws or nails,, show how the joinery was done !!
